Avengers 4 Announces The Start Of Filming With This Ominous Image
We don't even know what Avengers 4 is going to be called, but Marvel isn't letting a little thing like a title get in their way. Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is coming to a close and it all starts now. Filming for the next two Avengers films is being handled back to back and it seems that work on Avengers: Infinity War is now heading into post-production, as the Russo Brothers have informed fans that filming Avengers 4 has now begun. Check out the image with the ominous tag line below.
The end is right. Avengers 4 will mark the close of the current phase of the MCU, and with all indications being that the next phase will have a cosmic focus, there's little guarantee that any of our favorite heroes will be getting out of this phase alive. Many major contracts with Marvel's current stars are expiring so we expect them to make Avengers 4 their swan song, one way or the other.
It's an incredibly busy time for Marvel as they are in the middle of working on both Avengers movies as well as Ant-Man and the Wasp. There's also the little matter of Captain Marvel to attend to. That film is going to actually be released between the two Avengers movies, but will actually be filmed out of order since the two Avengers movies are being shot back to back.
The image posted to Facebook could be one of Captain America's gloves, or it could just be one of the Russo Brothers filming someplace where it's cold. Either way, we're guessing that whatever other pictures they send out over the next few weeks will be just as vague. Unless you were lucky enough to be at D23 or inside Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con, nobody has seen any footage from Avengers: Infinity War yet. We certainly don't expect to see a lot that will even confirm which characters will appear in Avengers 4, as that can potentially be a major spoiler for Avengers 3. We've been told that one of the reasons that Avengers 4 doesn't even have an official title is because it would be some sort of spoiler for the previous film, so don't expect to see your favorite MCU actors on the set of the new film. While we do expect Avengers 4 to be the last MCU movie for several characters, it's also possible that part three could actually be the last movie for some, just to keep us all on our toes.
My money is on the major footage and title reveals of Avengers 4 being the post-credits sequence of Avengers: Infinity War. We'll find out when Infinity War arrives next May, followed by Avengers 4 in 2019.
