How To See Bella Thorne's Amityville Movie For Free Before It Hits Theaters

Amityville: The Awakening Bella Thorne looking around the staircase

With an already problematic history of several release date delays, Amityville: The Awakening needed to catch a break sooner or later. Sure enough, it looks like that break has come in the form of a new savior, who intends to release the Bella Thorne and Jennifer Jason Leigh horror film in both theatrical and streaming capacities. If you're looking to see Amityville: The Awakening, you'll get to see it next month, thanks to Google Play. And what's better, you'll be able to see it free before its big screen debut.

Much like Rememory, which became the first movie to go to Google Play before it hit theaters, Amityville: The Awakening will be released to the Google Play platform on October 12th, before the limited theatrical debut slated for October 28th. A little over two weeks sits between seeing Bella Thorne and her movie family being terrorized by the spirited horror of the infamy. So you can catch the PG-13 outing in whatever form you choose.

After so many delays connected to Amityville: The Awakening, the movie needed a little good will. People also probably needed to be reminded that the movie is actually coming, and adding the flick to Google Play should be a low-risk way to build some good word-of mouth about the horror film. The end result is that if you have been excited about the new Amityville movie, you'll be able to catch it from the comfort of your own home, and soon.

With two of Amityville: The Awakening's stars, Bella Thorne and Gotham's Cameron Monaghan, having a fan base that's more digitally savvy, this is probably a good way to make sure this film is actually going to be seen. Contrary to what horror fans may have hoped, Amityville: The Awakening is still going to be released under the re-cut PG-13 version, so that only helps put it in front of as many interested parties as possible. Then again, the film could still end up flopping upon its free digital release, and the folks at Dimension Films wouldn't be harmed in the slightest.

Three years of delayed release dates has pretty much ensured that any distribution of Amityville: The Awakening counts as a success. With Google Play likely paying a decent amount to release the film through its digital platform, this former lost cause could already be a profitable picture. So, even if the film doesn't see a huge viewership on Google Play, it's better than if it were still stuck in limbo. Hopefully, there will be a good number of movie fans and horror buffs who are going to watch Amityville: The Awakening, just to see how it turned out.

Amityville: The Awakening takes a chance at box office glory in limited theatrical release on October 28th, but those of you who are looking for an advanced look can see it on October 12th, courtesy of Google Play. Take a look at what else is heading to theaters soon with our full schedule.
