Fantastic Beasts 2 Has Added Nicolas Flamel And More

Brontis Jodorowsky

Filming for the next movie in the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them series is currently underway, and along with it, comes news of several new actors and characters who will be involved, including several names fans will recognize. Top among them is the character of Nicholas Flamel, who is name-dropped in the first movie and book as the creator of Philosopher's/Sorcerer's Stone.

A massive collection of characters and actors have been announced for the new Fantastic Beasts movie thanks to the Pottermore website. The most interesting being that Mexican actor Brontis Jodorowsky will join the movie in the role of Nicholas Flamel. In the first part of the Harry Potter franchise, it was revealed that Flamel was the only person who had ever successfully created the elixir of life. It also came out that he was friends with one Albus Dumbledore, who we also know will be in the new movie, played by Jude Law.

Wolf Roth Victoria Yeates Cornell S John

Next, we have three actors whose characters have been announced with names, but whose connection to the story is still unclear. German actor Wolf Roth, who will next be seen playing Sigmund Freud in Will Ferrell's Holmes and Watson, has been cast as a character named Spielman. Call the Midwife's Victoria Yeates will play somebody named Bunty. Finally, Cornell S John of Eastenders will play the role of Arnold Guzman. While we have the names, we don't know anything about these characters. However, two other characters are at least a bit less opaque.

Derek Riddell Poppy Corby-Tuech

Derek Riddell of The Missing has been announced to play the role of Torquil Travers while Poppy Corby-Tuech of Hulu's Harlots has been cast as a character named Rosier. Serious Harry Potter fans might recognize both of those last names as they turn up in the books as the names of two of Lord Voldemort's Death Eaters. Since being a dark wizard tends to run in the family, there's a good bet that both of these characters will be working alongside Johnny Depp's Gellert Grindelwald.

Fiona Glascott Jessica Williams

Finally, we have the two most mysterious new members of the cast. Brooklyn's Fiona Glascott and former Daily Show correspondent Jessica Williams. While both of the actresses have been confirmed to appear in Fantastic Beasts 2, no details have been given as to their roles, so we're completely in the dark here.

The cast of Fantastic Beasts 2 is seriously filling out. We can't wait to see the next chapter of the story of the wizarding world when the movie arrives in November of 2018.
