Watch Jack Black Hilariously Call Out Chris Hemsworth, Challenge Him To An Immigrant Song Battle

Led Zeppelin's "Immigrant Song" is currently enjoying a burst of popularity thanks to its use in the newest Marvel film, Thor: Ragnarok. Most people love the way the song was used in the film, but one movie star is taking issue. Jack Black feels that Thor: Ragnarok is trying to steal some thunder from a movie of his, which also used "Immigrant Song" in a key scene, that being School of Rock. Black is not letting this injustice go unnoticed. He's apparently challenged Chris Hemsworth to an "Immigrant Song" battle for the ages. Check it out.

It seems that Mr. Black is of the opinion that "Immigrant Song" never would have appeared in Thor: Ragnarok if they hadn't gotten the idea from School of Rock. Black calls his performance of the tune the best part of his movie, and he feels personally offended that another movie would come in and steal that bit from them. This has led to a challenge, apparently for Chris Hemsworth, though he also tags Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi in the Instagram post, so apparently both are on the hook for this.

It would be one thing if Jack Black was simply going to wait around for a response from Hemsworth or Waititi before taking another step, but that's not Black 's style. He's already submitted his entry in the Battle of the Jams. Can Thor: Ragnarok outdo this?

Jack Black enlisted the help of some of his co-stars of his current film The House with a Clock in its Walls for his little slow motion music video tribute to "Immigrant Song." The highlight is probably when they end up breaking character when Black starts laughing as food gets smashed in his face. Jack Black and rock and roll have always been close and so we'd expect something fun to come from him in this challenge. If anything, there's a good chance the challenge was just an excuse to post the performance. We're ok with that.

Of course, the question now, is will the Thor: Ragnarok team respond? In the era of social media, we have to wonder if the entire challenge wasn't orchestrated ahead of time. Chris Hemsworth may already have an entry ready to go. If this really was off the cuff, we'll have to wait and see if Hemsworth can put his own "Immigrant Song" video together. We're certainly looking forward to seeing the Battle of the Jams have a definitive winner. If this battle went several rounds, however, we won't complain.
