The Poe And Finn Rumors Will Finally Be Answered In The Last Jedi, According To John Boyega

Finn and Poe in the Resistance Base

This is a very exciting week for the generations of Star Wars fans. Because in just a few days, Rian Johnson's Star Wars: The Last Jedi will hit theaters, continuing the main narrative of the beloved franchise. Moviegoers are eager to see Luke Skywalker return to the franchise in a more substantial role, as well as catching up with the trio of new heroes that we met in The Force Awakens two years ago. Since that film's release, rumors have swirled with some fans hoping that Finn (John Boyega) and Poe (Oscar Isaac) might have a romantic connection, and now it looks like we'll definitely get a concrete answer. John Boyega recently teased this saying:

I've watched the film and I will confirm, that will be confirmed in The Last Jedi --- you will know exactly which way it's going. Seriously, you'll know, by the time you watch it, you'll know.

Finally, some answers! Fans have been theorizing about the possibility of a Finn/Poe romance for close to two years, and via Boyega's comments to Mashable, it'll be a relief to everyone involved once the question can finally be answered.

Rumors about Finn and Poe began shortly after The Force Awakens was released, as the two heroes had some instant chemistry and connection while escaping The First Order. During this journey, Poe ended up giving Finn both his name and signature leather jacket. It's these events that inspired fans to ship the two, a trend that only gained more momentum thanks to actor Oscar Isaac.

Because when the cast of The Force Awakens was on the Ellen show to promote the movie, Isaac revealed that he was playing his scenes romantically. And since he didn't have many scenes with anyone other than Finn, it flamed the fires of the Finn/Poe romance. Additionally, J.J. Abrams revealed that he wants LBGT representation in the galaxy far, far away, so some hoped this could mean the duo of new male heroes.

Of course, it's also very clear that Finn has extremely strong feelings for Daisy Ridley's Rey. He was barely able to speak to her when they began their adventure in The Force Awakens, and he even tried to elicit the help of BB-8. Additionally, we've learned that Rey's name will the be very first line Finn has in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, violently awakening from a coma after the injuries sustained by Kylo Ren on Starkiller Base. So while some fans are still holding out hope that Finn and Poe could be the next big Star Wars couple, it's a bit of a stretch considering Finn's plot line in the two films.

All will be revealed when Star Wars: The Last Jedi arrives in theaters December 15th. In the meantime, check out our 2018 release list to plan your trips to the movies in the New Year.
