Sebastian Stan Has Talked To Hugh Jackman About Joining The MCU

Winter Solider Wolverine

Logan was meant to be Hugh Jackman's final performance as Wolverine, but a certain deal between Disney and Fox makes one wonder if that might not change. After Disney bought Fox's movie assets in a historic deal, the X-Men will eventually be making their way over to the MCU. The specifics of that are anyone's guess right now, but some have wondered if Jackman will come out of retirement if it means playing opposite of Iron Man and the Hulk. Sebastian Stan is one of those people and he actually had the opportunity to ask Jackman about it recently. Here's how the exchange went:

Recently I happened to be sitting next to Hugh Jackman, I didn't know what other awkward thing I could talk about but to be like, 'Am I going to see you soon?' I don't know. But he said a couple of things to me and I'll just leave it at that. Otherwise, I feel like I'm going to get into trouble with somebody.

Hugh Jackman has been playing Wolverine since 2000, and he seemed to finally be content to go out on top with the excellent Logan. However, the actor hasalways been excited by the prospects of one day meeting (and fighting) the Avengers but seemed resigned that it would likely never happen. Well, Disney disagreed and just straight up bought the X-Men -- along with several other key movie properties -- from Fox. Wolverine arriving in the MCU is a real possibility now and while Sebastian Stan's comments are from a confirmation of anything, it makes one wonder ifJackman might be rethinking his stance on retiring from the character.

While in attendance at Ace Comic-Con, Sebastian Stan -- who plays Bucky Barnes in the MCU -- told the crowd in attendance (via ComicBook) that he had recently spoken to Hugh Jackman about his current Wolverine status. The two superhero actors got to chatting and Stan asked if he would be seeing Jackman soon in an MCU movie. Stan obviously couldn't get into detail about what Jackman specifically told him and only said that he "said a couple things." Stan further went on to say that Jackman said "it's been on his mind," so Jackman seems to be at the least considering it.

Hugh Jackman has already publically said that while the news is exciting, he still intends to pass the reigns off to a new actor. However, it's a pretty big decision and one can understand that Jackman may still be going over all the angles in his head. He also previously said that if this deal had been on the table before Logan, he probably would have given him pause from moving on from the role, so it's a real roller coaster of emotions for the actor, I'll bet.

It'd be cool to see Jackman alongside the Avengers, but maybe that ship has sailed. Let us know what you think in the comments below!
