LeBron James Is Putting Together A House Party Remake

House Party

When Lebron James started his own production company, people got excited for a brand new Space Jam. However, it appears that's not the only reboot project the NBA star has his eye on. James has brought his SpringHill Entertainment production company on board a planned remake of 1990 comedy House Party.

While LeBron James is still a force to be reckoned with on the basketball court, the star has been branching out into other avenues for some time now and that has included TV and film production. He started SpringHill Entertainment as his entry into the industry and has a deal with Warner Bros. which led to this new deal, as House Party is being handled by New Line Cinema, one of WB's subsidiaries.

According to The Wrap, the script for House Party is being handled by Stephen Glover and Jamal Olori who have both written for the TV series Atlanta. The film is about a group of young people who attend the titular House Party which gets out of control. The original film starred 90s rap act Kid N' Play and spawned a pair of sequels. It unclear if this remake is being viewed as franchise potential, but these days isn't everything?

If you are somehow unfamiliar with the original, or have blocked the 90s out of your mind for your own personal safety, enjoy the clip below as a reminder of just what a ridiculous period the 1990s actually were.

LeBron James has a number of projects that he's working on, including a comedy about the NBA Draft and a different basketball comedy with Mark Wahlberg. However, the project that's been getting the most attention has been Space Jam 2. James has been rumored as a potential star for the animated/live-action sequel since before we were even sure the movie would ever happen. While the expectation is now that James will both produce and star in the sequel, it's unclear what his larger acting ambitions really are. He made a strong appearance in Amy Schumer's Trainwreck a couple of years ago so it's possible that he's looking to play a role in some or all of these other projects or he might simply be happy with his behind-the-scenes role.

While the new film will likely not star Kid N' Play, we can only hope that the casting call requires the new stars to be able to do the kid n' play.
