Unikitty Has An Intense New Look In The LEGO Movie 2 Poster

Warner Bros has kept us satisfied on the LEGO front last year with The LEGO Batman Movie and The LEGO Ninjago Movie, but next year marks the release of the proper sequel to 2014's The LEGO Movie, appropriately titled The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part. After years of plot details being kept under wraps (or in this case, bricks), details have finally started coming to light over the last few months over what to expect and who's joining the sequel. Now with a trailer forthcoming, Warner Bros has released the first poster for The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part, and in it, we see a Unikitty who looks a lot more monstrous than usual.

Among Emmet's many allies in The LEGO Movie was Princess Unikitty (voiced by Allison Brie), the Master Builder from Cloud Cuckoo Land who resembles a unicorn-cat creature and usually optimistic, but has a dark side that emerges whenever she gets angry. However, Unikitty didn't turn into anything as monstrous as how she looks in this poster for The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part. Since five years will have passed since The LEGO Movie, perhaps in that time she's learned how to channel her temper and turn herself into a rage monster. Or maybe something will happen during the sequel that gives her that intense look. Either way, it's a good thing she's friendly with the Master Builders rather than directing her fury at them.

As for the helmeted figure, that's Sweet Mayhem, who's being voiced by Brooklyn Nine-Nine's Stephanie Beatriz. With a name like that, and judging by her placement on the poster, one could assume this character is a villain, but I wonder if they might end up being an ally instead. The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part will see Batman being kidnapped by the Duplo Aliens, requiring Emmet, Wyldstyle and the other Master Builders venturing into space to rescue him and defeat the Aliens. Presumably Sweet Mayhem will be one of the new characters the protagonists will meet. Along with Sweet Mayhem, Deadline reported that another new character who will show up in Ice Cream Cone, voiced by Broad City's Arturo Castro. Tiffany Haddish is also joining the sequel as Queen Watevra Wa-Nabi.

The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part will be released in theaters on February 8, 2019. If you're interested in what's coming to the silver screen later this year, look through our 2018 release schedule.
