Incredibles 2 Blu-ray Will Include Jack-Jack And Edna Mode Short Film

Jack-Jack and Edna Mode in Incredibles 2

As has been the case for years now, 2018 has seen/will see the release of various Marvel and DC movies, but this year marked the return of another familiar, cinematic superhero property. 14 years ago, The Incredibles made a splash as Pixar's sixth theatrical movie, and this past summer, audiences reunited with the Parr family in Incredibles 2, which was met with critical acclaim and made over $1.16 billion worldwide. The sequel is winding down its time in theaters, but the home release is looming closer, and among the bonus features that will be available is a short film showing what happened the night that Edna Mode babysat Jack-Jack.

Those who've seen Incredibles 2 will recall that Bob Parr, a.k.a. Mr. Incredible, had a difficult time looking after Jack-Jack upon learning he has superpowers... a lot of them. Desperate for help, he visited Edna Mode, superhero fashion designer extraordinaire, for her help in getting a handle on his infant son. Despite her initial reservations, Edna agreed to look after Jack-Jack for the night, and the next day, not only had she taken a liking to the kid, she also made a special suit for him that Bob can use to control his powers. Now writer and director Brad Bird (who also voices Edna) has revealed on Twitter that we'll find out what transpired the night Edna was looking after Jack-Jack in a short film called Auntie Edna, which is directed by Incredibles 2 story supervisor Ted Mathot. Evidently Bird and his team anticipated that fans would be interested in seeing what Edna taking care of Jack-Jack would look like, and they were more than happy to oblige.

This isn't the first time Jack-Jack has gotten a short film to shine in. When The Incredibles was released on home media, Jack-Jack Attack was attached, showing fans all the craziness babysitter Kari had to deal with taking care of the baby while the rest of the family was off on their superhero adventure. Jack-Jack has a bigger presence in Incredibles 2, but it's always fun to see more of his shenanigans, and this time around, that also means more Edna Mode, who had a smaller role in the sequel. We'll have to wait and see what else the Incredibles 2 will have in the way of bonus features, but this Auntie Edna short film already has things off to a good start on that front.

You can purchase Incredibles 2 digitally starting October 23, and the Blu-ray and DVD copies will hit shelves on November 6. As for what else 2018 has in store theatrically, head over you our release guide to plan your trips to the theater for the rest of this year accordingly.
