Bond: No Time To Die Reveals Bond’s Iconic Aston Martin

Daniel Craig as James Bond in Casino Royale

After more than 50 years there are a few elements that you can pretty much always count on in a James Bond film. An actor who looks good in a suit in the lead role, beautiful women, equally beautiful locations, interesting gadgets, and diabolical villains can always be counted on. Oh, and the car. While James Bond himself changes over time, but is always James Bond, the same is also true of Bond's ride.

James Bond (nearly) always drives an Aston Martin, and the James Bond Twitter account just gave us our best look so far at the newest model that Daniel Craig will be driving in No Time To Die, the DB5. Check it out.

As per usual, the new Aston Martin looks great, like an absolute classic. Of course, in this case that's because it is. The Aston Martin DB5 has been James Bond's vehicle of choice since Sean Connery first drove one in Goldfinger in 1963.

Whether this Aston Martin has machine guns built in or other cool gadgets we'll have to wait and see.

The DB5 may not even be the only model of Aston Martin being used in No Time to Die. A promotional image released of Craig a few moths back showed him in front of a V8 model, though that may have only been staged for the specific shot.

James Bond has had the occasional fling with BMW and other vehicles, but the Aston Martin has always been the car most closely associated with the character, and it's been a big part of the franchise under Daniel Craig.

No Time to Die is currently filming in Italy and that appears to be where the Aston Martin will feature in the film. There are at least three models apparently on hand. That's probably pretty standard for a movie of this type, so it doesn't necessarily mean that Bond's car is going to get utterly destroyed in the movie, though it certainly doesn't mean that's not going to happen.

What is going to happen in No Time To Die is largely anybody's guess. Most of the plot details are being kept under wraps. We only know that the movie will open with James Bond having retired from service, before being drafted to help his old friend Felix Leiter. Rami Malek will play the film's villain, but we know essentially nothing about the character.

This may be Daniel Craig's last time behind the wheel of an Aston Martin. For a long time it looked like he wouldn't be returning to the role of James Bond and, as such, it seems quite likely this will be his last appearance on screen as the super spy. Hopefully, the next James Bond will still drive an Aston Martin. While change is a good thing in a film franchise, there are some things that are just timeless and perfect.
