Wolverine In The MCU? Why Hugh Jackman Has Fans Freaking Out About The X-Men

20th Century Fox’s X-Men movies were lighting up the silver screen long before shared universes like the MCU came to fruition. But since Disney acquired that studio, fans have been waiting to see if/when the X-Men will finally join the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And now Hugh Jackman has fans freaking out about him returning to the role of Wolverine in the massive franchise.

Hugh Jackman debuted as Logan/Wolverine back in 2000’s original X-Men movie, reprising his role a number of times during his 17-year run. While he seemingly hung up the claws for good after Logan, Jackman got fans wondering about his return thanks to some cryptic posts on social media. The first featured a fan art of Wolverine’s claws, while the second was a photo with Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige. You can check out the latter image below.

While sharing fan art is innocent enough, this post with Kevin Feige was enough to turn the heads of a few Marvel fans out there. And just like that, there were a ton of more theories about Wolverine possibly joining the MCU. But could he actually join the massive blockbuster?

After Hugh Jackman got fans riled up thanks to his Instagram story, the responses quickly started rolling in on other social media platforms like Twitter. One popular theory is that Wolverine will have the opportunity to debut in Sam Raimi’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. After all, the movie’s title makes anything seem possible. Still, there are many moviegoers out there who are dying to see Hugh Jackman return to play Wolverine, specifically so he can interact with Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool. The two actors have a delightful online “fued” about the subject, and some fans are hoping to see both character join the MCU together in a buddy comedy. What a concept.

Of course, there were plenty of folks who responded to Hugh Jackman’s cryptic Wolverine posts. Journalist Brandon Davis took the time to joke about WandaVision’s aerospace engineer, which many fans were theorizing was going to introduce the Fantastic Four to the franchise. Hugh Jackman is an actor who knows the power of his platform. As such, it's more than possible that the 52 year-old actor is simply poking fun at fans who want to see him return as Wolverine. Regardless, the post with Kevin Feige is sure to kepe those rumors swirling for the foreseeable future.
