Fans of Knives Out has so much to look forward to regarding the sequel. But even more so than the fans, Knives Out 2’s Dave Bautista appears to be just as excited for the film as they are. He even decided to make a bold statement about the whodunit follow-up. Bautista explained why Rian Johnson’s sequel could be better than the original.

For Dave Bautista, the film marked a chance to reunite with Daniel Craig and try a new role. Bautista saw this opportunity as a chance to stretch himself as an actor. He teased the all-star cast and the new narrative will top the first Knives Out film. The Guardians of the Galaxy star told People Magazine about the Knives Out sequel:

I really think it's going to be as good, if not better, than the first one. I'm always afraid to say that because I don't want anybody to get offended saying that we're going to be better, but I really do think this. I think the characters are just so much more colorful. I think people are really going to dig this. Everybody's cast so well. I was working with a couple of my castmates and was mesmerized by their performances and just how well they've adapted into these characters. I think the characters in this are even more quirky than the first one.

Dave Bautista’s words were a strong claim to make for Knives Out 2. Bautista put out a tall order for the sequel given how acclaimed and successful the first film was. The sequel’s more colorful characters may put it on par with the Thrombey family from the original film, as pointed out by the former WWE star. His words marked a sea change after admitting he was intimidated by the cast’s caliber. Now it seems he is prepared for the new cast to take the first film’s crown.

Dave Bautista making that statement came on the heels of a recent Knives Out 2 development. Director Rian Johnson recently celebrated production ending in Greece after the film started in June. Not much is known about the sequel outside the main cast with some speculation over returning actors and surprise appearances. Despite the secrecy, which hasn’t stopped the cast members from sharing photos and speaking on the film. Just from these sneak peeks, the film is shaping up to be another highlight in the mystery genre.

Dave Bautista and the cast have a lot to live up to after the original cast’s performances. Hopefully, Bautista’s prediction will pan out once the film arrives in the future. Fans will have to wait until Knives Out 2 arrives on Netflix to see if the new cast measures up to the original.
