The official Twitter account for the upcoming Wonder Woman movie made its debut this morning, and while it has only posted a single tweet thus far, a retweet of star Gal Gadot’s announcement that filming was underway, it does include some information of note. The banner and profile images for the page include a brand new logo for the character who will make her debut in this year’s Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. Check it out.
While certainly a modern look on the classic logo, it contains everything that a standard Woman Woman logo would contain. It has a pair of W’s set on top of each other which spread out like wings on a bird. While the wings have always been a traditional part of the logo, the bird’s head that makes up the center of the image is a fairly new creation, as most traditional logos simply have the W come to a point. The bird’s head is a carry-over from the costume that we’ve seen on Wonder Woman in the trailers for the upcoming movie.
While DC and Warner Brothers have been playing catch-up to Marvel in the Cinematic Universe game, this logo is actually a sign that the producers have been working toward a goal of a cohesive universe from the beginning. If you compare this image to the very first image of Superman’s logo from Man of Steel, you’ll see that everything about this logo is designed to pair well with that one. From the metallic look of the logo itself to the same grey/black background that it sits on, the two logos look like they were created at the same time to sit on a poster together.
So what do you guys think of the new Wonder Woman logo? Does its similarity to Superman make it fit into the DC universe, or should they have made the image more unique to the character? And what about Batman? Will he get a standalone logo next? For now, let's focus on Wonder Woman. Let us know your thoughts in the poll below.
