The Cord Cutter Podcast #22: Star Trek: Discovery

Welcome to the 22nd edition of The Cord Cutter Podcast! With the fall finale of Star Trek: Discovery coming up this weekend, now seems like a good time to give our thoughts on the newest entry in the Trek franchise! After an interminable hiatus of 12 years, fans finally have new Star Trek on television, and this week Mick, Adrienne and their guest Mike Reyes will discuss whether or not Discovery is a worthy successor to the franchise. And, after they discuss this week's streaming news and go over what they've each been streaming lately, you can count on this trio to get down to the nitty gritty and talk about everything that's got us excited (or not so excited) about the freshman season of Star Trek: Discovery.

After eight episodes of Star Trek: Discovery on CBS All Access, some fans have made a lot fuss over the fact that the show, which is a prequel that takes place 10 years before The Original Series, not only has a look that's more advanced than that show, but also features some tech that either seems like it shouldn't be around or that doesn't show up in later Trek shows. They'll be getting into that thorny discussion, as well as talk about their favorite characters, if they think the serialized storytelling works, Captain Lorca, the new Klingons, that F-bomb and what exactly is up with two characters who might not be quite who they seem anymore, along with many more intriguing conversational points. Ready to dive in? Great! Read on to get the lowdown on this week's podcast and then listen for yourself above!
