What do you do when you're a chart-topping musician, scene-stealing actress, and bona fide social media superstar all by the age of 24? You thank your mom! And that's exactly what Selena Gomez did on Monday morning in a sweet photo and message on her Instagram. And she must have been feeling all the love while she was online, because she also made her relationship with new boyfriend The Weeknd Instagram official at the same time.
Selena Gomez posted a photo of herself and her mother Mandy Teefey embracing and laughing together, and wrote about how much her mom's support has meant to her through the years.
Mandy Teefey has been more than just a loving mother to Selena Gomez, but also a partner with her through the not-so-wonderful world of show business. Having been in the acting world before Gomez's birth as a former stage actress, Teefey was already pretty familiar with the ins and outs of showbiz when her daughter first began acting in 2002 on the children's show Barney & Friends. Teefey continued guiding a young Gomez until she finally landed her breakout role as teenage wizard Alex Russo on Disney Channel's Wizards of Waverly Place.
As Selena Gomez began to transition from Disney darling to international pop star, so too did the relationship between her and her mother. The family received a lot of press in 2014 when it was reported that Gomez had fired her parents as her managers. Though things have shifted professionally between the mother and daughter, one thing that hasn't changed is how much they love and support one another. Mandy Teefey has since founded her own production company called Kicked To the Curb Productions, and Gomez has been shifting her focus from music to acting in the past year with parts in Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising, The Big Short, and the Netflix movie The Fundamentals of Caring. And now Gomez and her mom are working side by side again on the upcoming Netflix series 13 Reasons Why, which Gomez is executive producing as a part of Teefey's Kicked To the Curb Productions.
But her mom isn't the only person Selena Gomez shared her love for Monday morning --- the starlet also finally made her romance with new boyfriend The Weeknd Instagram official in a sweet video that she has since deleted. But Gomez couldn't delete the lovey-dovey video fast enough for her eagle-eyes fans to not notice, as PEOPLE reported.
The short black-and-white clip shows The Weeknd relaxing on a romantic boat ride in Italy, and Selena Gomez sealed the deal by captioning it with the heart eyes emoji. Though neither of the music superstars have confirmed their relationship since they were spotted kissing earlier this month, I think now we can be pretty sure we know what's going on.
It must be a great time to be Selena Gomez and surrounded by all this love!
