Justin Bieber may have wanted to take a break and relax, but unfortunately, he already has a new drama to deal with days after ending his world tour early. Apparently, the 23-year-old pop singer ran over a paparazzo with his truck. Yes, you read that right. Here is what we know about the incident.
Justin Bieber was at the City Church in Beverly Hills before the accident occurred. According to an onlooker, the truck first entered a side alley near the church. Then Bieber got into the driver's seat and slowly exited the alley. However, the paparazzi swarmed around the "Sorry" singer's truck, and a group of them got up close to the passenger's side. Bieber continued exiting the scene, but as the onlooker told E! News, there was "a mob scene flashing at him," which suggests Bieber might have had a hard time seeing.
Apparently, the group of photographers on the passenger's side of the truck got stuck between Justin Bieber's vehicle and a parked car, which belonged to Kourtney Kardashian. Her car was parked next to the sidewalk, which hints that the photographers might have been standing in the street.
The onlooker said one of the paparazzi fell to the ground amid all of the chaos. Justin Bieber continued accelerating the truck forward, and the vehicle ran over the leg of the fallen photographer. Bieber did not realize what had happened until the photographers put down their cameras and rushed over to help the man on the ground. However, when Bieber figured out what occurred, he stopped the truck and jumped out to offer support.
The police officers who arrived on the scene took Justin Bieber aside to talk to him about what had happened. Bieber supposedly cooperated with the police, and they ended up not arresting him.
As for the paparazzo, paramedics helped him for a moment at the scene, strapped him to a gurney, and took him in an ambulance to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. The police said the 57-year-old man had injured one of his lower extremities in the accident, but the injury was not life threatening.
Justin Bieber recently canceled the remaining concert shows on his Purpose World Tour to help him rest and do some soul searching. Bieber and his team performed more than 150 shows around the world on tour, and people close to him indicated he was feeling burned out. Surely, this incident is not the way he wanted to spend his first days off.
