We regret to inform you that Rihanna and Drake are no longer buddies. At least, that's what Rihanna said. In a recent profile piece promoting her upcoming new movie, Ocean's 8, the pop musician talked about a variety of different topics, from turning 30 to launching her newest make-up line, Fenty Beauty. During the conversation she also talked about her relationship with Drake... or, rather, the lack thereof. While they've been friendly in the past and collaborated before (potentially even dated on-and-off too), they are no longer tight. In fact, it's possible they haven't been close in years. As she confessed in the interview, Rihanna doesn't consider herself friends with the "Hotline Bling" musician any more -- though she doesn't necessarily hold any vengeful feelings towards him either.
We don't have a friendship now, but we're not enemies either. It is what it is.
Rihanna admitted to Vogue for their June cover story that she isn't keeping tabs on Drake anymore. In fact, she was pretty uncomfortable discussing his fawning award presentation at the 2016 VMAs, where he proclaimed his undying love and devotion while presenting the Video Vanguard Award.
The VMAs is such a fan-focused awards show, so having that energy around me, and knowing the people who had received the award in the past, made it feel like a big deal. Waiting through that speech was probably the most uncomfortable part. I don't like too many compliments; I don't like to be put on blast.
Rihanna didn't explain in this cover story why she's no longer friends with Drake. Instead, she just simply stated their friendship is now void. And Drake isn't the only musician ex-friend whom RiRi is cutting out of her life; social media followers noticed that the "Umbrella" singer also recently unfollowed Kanye West, whom she collaborated with in the past, seemingly in response to his Donald Trump-supporting tweets.
In the awkward presentation, Drake said the following about Rihanna. He also seemingly tried to kiss her as well, which added a whole other layer of uncomfortable.
She is someone I've been in love with since I was 22 years old. She's one of my best friends in the world. All my adult life, I've looked up to her even though she's younger than me. She's a living, breathing legend in our industry.

Rihanna will next be seen in Ocean's 8 on June 8. Meanwhile, in addition to this recent friendship status reveal, Drake also earned some headlines recently when he picked a fight with Cleveland Cavaliers Kendrick Perkins after a recent game.
