Kanye West isn't the only one stirring up trouble in his famous marriage, as Kim Kardashian West earned some major blacklash this week. This time around, the reality TV star received the ire of social media users when she posted an advertisement featuring her image for Appetite Suppressant Lollipops, which gave fans the impression that Kim was advertising poor eating habits, and wasn't listening to their concerns. While Kim Kardashian put a notice explaining that it was an ad at the top of the post, people online were still outraged, and it got extreme enough that Instagram went ahead and shut down the post completely from the media mogul's page. Late they admitted that doing so was a mistake on their part. Here's the situation.
In the deleted-then-re-uploaded Instagram post, Kim Kardashian West posted the following advertisement, likely unaware of the hellfire of backlash that would ensue.
While the image earned more than a million likes as of this reporting, it has starkly earned a whole lot more dislikes from followers who feel betrayed by Kim Kardashian West's message of body positivity. In the comment section, there were several fans (or perhaps ex-fans) and followers who felt betrayed and lost respect for the reality TV star for peddling this product on her page. Other people believed it was "dangerous" and "damaging" to post such a product. Meanwhile, some found it odd that someone as rich and famous would feel the need to advertise appetite suppressing lollipops, of all things, on her popular account. Among the most devastating and wide-spread criticisms directed towards Kim Kardashian West came from Jameela Jamil. The Good Place actress took to her own social media feed to express her disappointment and outrage at Kim Kardashian West for her actions, and Jamil certainly didn't shy away from using some pretty harsh words. It's also worth noting that her criticisms seem to be directed towards the Kardashian/Jenner family at large, not merely at Kim Kardashian for this advertisement scandal.
Meanwhile, when it came to Instagram shutting down the advertisement, the social media outlet told Buzzfeed that the deletion was done in error and they apologized for their swift action. Here's what a representative told the site.
We mistakenly removed content we shouldn't have and apologized to Kim for the inconvenience caused.
It's never a dull day inside the house of Kim Kardashian West and Kanye West. In addition to the outrage Kim Kardashian is receiving on social media at the moment, Kanye West also put himself in the hot seat for a variety of controversial comments he made on Twitter. Meanwhile, Kim Kardashian is also being sued this week, along with Khloe Kardashian and Scott Disick, for an unpaid jet bill that ballooned pretty darn high. Like I said, it's never a dull day.
