Is Miley Cyrus A Liar Or Is She Just Naive?

Whether you’ve watched the clip or not, by now you’re no doubt aware that Miley Cyrus disrobes in the music video for her new song “Wrecking Ball”. With nothing but her emotions, the pop star swings back and forth on the title object and at various points, kisses a sledgehammer and makes sexy eyes at the camera. Altogether, it’s one of the most aggressively sexual pieces of promotional footage a major music artist has ever released, but if you listen to Miley herself, it’s really no big deal at all.

The starlet appeared on New York’s Z100 radio station this morning to talk about the 40 million views the footage has already attracted, and at no point during the interview was she willing to admit she was intentionally using sex appeal. In fact, she vehemently disagreed with the host who called the clip ”sexy”.

"I think the video is much more, if people get past the point that I'm naked and you actually look at me you can tell that I actually look more broken then even the song sounds. The song is a pop ballad. It's one of these songs that everyone is going to relate to, everyone has felt that feeling at one point. If people can take their minds out of the obvious and go into their imagination a little bit and see kind of what the video really means and the way it's so vulnerable and actually if you look in my eyes I look more sad then my voice sounds on the record it was a lot harder to do the video then it was to record the songs. It was much more of an emotional experience."

There might be more to the video than Cyrus swinging without any clothes on, but it’s an absolute joke for any young female pop star to think she can disrobe and make out with a sledgehammer without audiences finding the result sexy. That’s going to happen one hundred out of one hundred times. So, that leaves us with two possibilities. Either Miley is a liar and knows damn well what she’s doing, or she’s incredibly naïve and doesn’t understand how people will respond to her own behavior.
