Read Kurt Sutter's Epic Rant After Sons Of Anarchy Series Finale Spoiled

Of all the creative minds in television that someone can accidentally piss off, Sons of Anarchy’s outspoken creator Kurt Sutter should be avoided at all costs. And of all the ways that one can go about accidentally pissing off Kurt Sutter, ruining the finale to his seven-year-strong drama is really the worst way to do it. But that awful chain of events actually happened, as copies of the expansive Sons of Anarchy: The Official Collector’s Edition companion book were prematurely shipped out, giving customers a fully detailed rundown of the series finale days before it will air.

To put it lightly, Sutter is pissed. How pissed? Those responsible might be on the receiving end of a neck stabbing before it’s all over with. Here’s how he put it in an apologetic expletive-heavy rant on TwitLonger.

It has been brought to my attention that our SOA Collector's Edition Book has been sent out a week early by some distributors and book outlets. This book contains details about the final episode of the series. This, my friends is a storyteller's worst nightmare. I wanted this book to be a compliment to the show. It contains personal messages and photos from the cast, in-depth behind the scenes information and detailed breakdown of episodes. It's a smart, well-conceived book that I was very excited for the fans to have. AFTER the motherfucking finale. There are a thousand fucking people I can blame. And I assure you, by the time I am done, my fucking basket will be filled with heads of incompetent cunts. But as far as the fans go, the burden is on me. I fucked up. It was my idea for the book, so ultimately, I am to blame. So if you received a book, I apologize. I ask that you not share your wrath or pain or opinion in social media so as to not spoil the experience of others. There is no excuse for utter ineptitude. It pains me that this will be the parting memory of some fans. I hope you all tune in for the finale. It plays much better than it reads.SincerelyKs

As the guy who got his wife Katey Sagal to call just about every female character on Sons of Anarchy a “gash,” Sutter predictably went for the harsher four-letter vagina slang, implying that people would suffer the consequences of their actions. I’m all for early holiday shipments and making people happy, but ruining the ending of a series that is obviously beloved to the person ordering the book is just unacceptable, inadvertent or not. I’m not sure what will be done, other than perhaps a backroom court case. The bottom line is probably, "if you don't want to know about the finale, don't read about it." But it's the principle.

The game we’re going to see played now is one of “Who can shut the fuck up the longest?” Sons of Anarchy fans are not the type to blurt out spoilers willy nilly, knowing just how important each and every damned detail and death is in this show. (Not like, say, The Walking Dead ruining its own midseason ender.) This finale is the last one for the entire series, and while we all have our speculations over whether or not Jax is going to bite the bullet (and whether or not it’ll be by his own hand), I’m pretty sure most of us are much happier finding out about it when the show is actually airing.

So remember to walk softly, wearing blinders, with earplugs in, if you want to make it to next Tuesday night’s Sons of Anarchy series finale without knowing what happens. And if you happen to hear any piercing screams in the dead of night, it might just be the person responsible.
