The Friends Episode David Schwimmer Wants To Share With His Kid

While Friends is pretty tame compared to today’s TV standards, it’s not necessarily a show that parents can enjoy with their really young kids. However, Friends lead David Schwimmer—who has a five-year-old daughter—says there is one episode of the former NBC comedy he can’t wait to share with his kid. At least, when she’s old enough. Here’s what he had to say at the Television Critics Association press tour:

'The One With the Holiday Armadillo' was fun! I mean, it was really fun. I hope to one day show my daughter that episode.

If you can remember way back to the turn of the century, “The One with the Holiday Armadillo” came out in the latter half of the show’s run, during Season 7, in fact. During the episode, Ross Geller’s son Ben is visiting him during the holidays and Ross takes it upon himself to teach the kid about Jewish traditions, although Ben is more used to celebrating Christmas. This leads to some shenanigans, per a usual episode of Friends, including a sideplot with a tarantula, but the point is this: Ross eventually goes to the store to rent a Christmas suit but can only find a—you guessed it—‘holiday’ armadillo. If you want to know what that looks like, just check out the clip, below.

Obviously, “The One With The Holiday Armadillo” isn’t a particularly innuendo-oriented episode of the series, but at age 5, David Schwimmer’s daughter, Cleo, is not exactly the target audience for Friends. But when she’s old enough to jump on board, you can bet her famous father will be there to let her watch the iconic romance between Ross Geller and Rachel Green unfold. David Schwimmer also told Glamour that there are so many “so many” episodes of Friends that he fondly remembers that I’m guessing Cleo will eventually have more than one favorite, as well.

And maybe eventually his daughter will be able to watch a reunion special premiere, as well. Most of the Friends cast, David Schwimmer included, is set to appear in a tribute special celebrating the work of director James Burrows next month, and while it's not an official reunion, it does have our hopes up quite a bit regarding the potential for one to happen eventually.

The James Burrows special will air on February 21 at 9 p.m. ET. You can see what else TV has coming up with our midseason TV premiere schedule.
