Why Game Of Thrones’ Ramsay Bolton Is Ready To Face Off With Jon Snow

Game of Thrones fans know that this Sunday's episode is going to be a crazy one. It's the ninth episode of the season, which usually means that the biggest twists, turns, and deaths are going to occur. Additionally, we're having a seasons long plot finally come to fruition, as Jon and Sansa march on Winterfell to take the North back from Ramsay Bolton. This episode, titled "Battle of the Bastards" will have everyones favorite bastard, Jon Snow, hopefully decapitating everyone's least favorite bastard, Ramsay. And it turns out that Ramsay himself is thrilled for this meeting.

Iwan Rheon, who plays the villainous Ramsay on Game of Thrones, recently opened up to EW as to why he's excited for Ramsay and Jon finally meeting and coming to blows.

Anyone who has asked me, 'Who would you like Ramsay to meet?' My answer has always been, 'Jon Snow. He's the antithesis of Ramsay.' They're almost a yin and a yang. They both come from such a similar place yet they're so different. And even though they're enemies, they've both risen so far as bastards, which is almost incomprehensible, and now they're both here facing each other. They couldn't be any more different, yet more similar.

This statement makes a great deal of sense. And while we've been following Jon and Ramsay's stories for years now, I hadn't given much thought about their relationship to each other.

While we weren't introduced to Ramsay until Season 3, he and Jon had pretty similar lives growing up; they are both bastards who share the northern name Snow. Ramsay and Jon attempted to impress and properly serve their father, despite being looked down upon from the general population of Westeros. While Jon was a brother and mentor to the Stark children, especially Bran and Arya, Ramsay aimed to become more of a Bolton by committing heinous acts of violence and truly represent the flayed man.

Of course, the origin of their conception couldn't be more different. Ramsay was the product of sexual assault, when Roose murdered a miller and raped his wife. While Snow's parentage is still a bit of a mystery, he was raised alongside the Stark siblings and treated with respect and love (from everyone except Catelyn).

But despite their varying circumstances, both bastards have risen to high ranks within the world of Westeros. Ramsay was legitimized by Tommen (lucky him) and is now the Warden of the North after he killed his father, Fat Walda, and their newborn son. And Jon became one of the youngest Lord Commanders of The Night's Watch's history. For the two bastards to somehow lead armies against each other in a major power play is unprecedented. But Westeros just isn't big enough for the both of them, and I'm sure one of them will part ways with their head before Season 6 comes to a close.

Check out the trailer for this week's episode, and try not to get excited.

Yeah, this Sunday is going to be epic.

I'm hoping for a Stark victory tomorrow, as we've been hating Ramsay for far too long, even longer than we had hated Joffrey. I predict that the Starks will retake Winterfell, with the help of Littlefinger's troops from the Vale, and Jon will eventually have Ramsay's head for his crimes, echoing Ned's actions in the first episode. Of course, the good guys likely won't be without loss, and I bet that little shit Ramsay will probably kill Rickon before he admits defeat.

Are you ready for Ramsay to finally get his in Game of Thrones, or do you want the Bolton bastard to keep flaying people for a few more episodes? Sound off in the comments below.
