Kevin Can Wait's Erinn Hayes Has Already Landed Her Next TV Gig
Actress Erinn Hayes was the leading lady on the new CBS sitcom Kevin Can Wait in the 2016-2017 TV season, which was a pretty sweet gig. It came as a big surprise to viewers everywhere back in June when news broke that Erinn Hayes was being replaced on Kevin Can Wait by Leah Remini. Luckily, Hayes is already back in the TV comedy biz. She has landed a new role on an upcoming Amazon series based on the book called The Dangerous Book for Boys.
The Dangerous Book for Boys will center on a family as they try to deal with the death of a loved one. Three young boys lost their father, Patrick, who wrote them a book before he died to inspire them to always find ways to live life to the fullest, no matter what. The book leads to boys to imagine a fantasy world in which Patrick is very much still alive. Meanwhile, their mother Beth, their uncle Terry, and their grandmother try in their own ways to help the boys process Patrick's death.
Erin Hayes will play Beth, the mother of Wyatt, Dash, and Liam and the widow of Patrick. Although she wants to keep life as normal as possible for her boys in the wake of their father's death, living under the same roof as her brother-in-law and mother-in-law won't make things easy on her. Throw in the fact that Terry happens to be the identical twin brother of Patrick, and Beth might need a guidebook of her own. The Dangerous Book for Boys isn't actually the first time that Hayes will work with Amazon; she recently appeared as a guest star on Amazon's acclaimed Transparent.
The majority of the rest of the ensemble has been cast as well. Deadline reports that Chris Diamantopoulos of Good Girls Revolt is on board to play both Patrick in the boys' imaginations and Terry in the present real world, and legendary comedienne Swoosie Kurtz will play Tiffany, Beth's mother-in-law. Wyatt will be played by Gabriel Bateman of American Gothic and Outcast, and Drew Logan Powell of Blindspot will play Dash. The role of the third brother Liam does not yet seem to be cast.
The show has been developed by Bryan Cranston of Breaking Bad fame, as well as Superbad director Greg Mottola, who will direct the series as it films this summer in New York. All things considered, The Dangerous Book for Boys sounds unlike anything else on television. Who knows? Maybe it will turn into an even better gig for Erinn Hayes than Kevin Can Wait ever was. We'll have to wait and see.
With filming not yet begun, we undoubtedly have a while to wait before The Dangerous Book for Boys becomes available on Amazon.
