Mystery Science Theater 3000 Renewed For Season 12 At Netflix
Mystery Science Theater 3000 returned to the small screen earlier this year, and there's no Crow about the fan responses to the revival being overwhelmingly positive. Even with a few changes made to the overarching format and structure, the show continues to deliver solid laughs at the expense of B-movies in a delightful and clever fashion. Many fans have widely celebrated the show's the show's return, and that fanfare is only going to continue with the announcement that Netflix has renewed it for Season 12.
Joel Hodgson, Felicia Day, and Jonah Ray have officially announced that Mystery Science Theater 3000 earned itself a renewal for another round of hilarity on Netflix. The cult classic TV series will return to the streaming platform for a twelfth season, although few other details have been confirmed at this point; the announcement states merely that Season 12 is going to happen, though the reveal afforded Hodgson, Day, and Ray a chance to thank all the fans for their support.
The announcement of a new season of Mystery Science Theater 3000 will obviously get fans of the show insanely excited as we wonder what cinematic blunders will get tackled next. MST3K has developed a rabid fanbase in the years since its tenth season wrapped back in 1999, and enthusiasm reached a renewed fever pitch in the time leading up to its 2017 resurrection. The show even broke a Kickstarter record before Netflix decided to invest in its revival, so it is pretty clear that fans will do anything that they can to see more of it. Thankfully, we just have to subscribe to Netflix for that now.

Created by Joel Hodgson, who also birthed the revival, Mystery Science Theater 3000 is one of several TV shows to experience a resurgence in popularity and success after a Netflix revival. In addition to the film-centric comedy series, the streaming service has also introduced audiences to refreshed versions of Full House (a.k.a Fuller House), as well as Gilmore Girls. (Not to mention film-to-TV ports such as Spike Lee's recently released TV version of She's Gotta Have It.) Many TV fans seem to place a serious premium on nostalgia these days, and Mystery Science Theater 3000 is one of the several shows here to capitalize on that.
