Stranger Things' Sean Astin Has Another Netflix Show On The Way With Melissa Joan Hart

Bob Sean Astin Stranger Things Netflix

Sean Astin stole our hearts anew portraying the goofy Bob in Stranger Things Season 2, and when it became clear he wouldn't be back for Season 3, many viewers were disappointed. Though Bob might be gone, Netflix has just made a move to ensure it won't be the last time viewers see Astin in action on the platform. The veteran actor has signed onto a multi-camera sitcom called No Good Nick, which involves a tricky kid, lots of laughs, and a winning co-star in former Sabrina the Teenage Witch star Melissa Joan Hart.

No Good Nick tells the tale of a family who welcomes a 13-year-old kid named Nick (short for Nicole) to the family, unaware that she's actually a "street-smart con-artist." Sean Astin's character Ed is the patriarch of the household, and Deadline describes him as a "lovable but dorky fun dad." Melissa Joan Hart is his hyper-competitive career-driven wife named Liz, which seems to imply these two are a couple that encapsulates the old saying "opposites attract." Actress Siena Agudong, best known for her roles on Nickelodeon's Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn and Star Falls, will play the role of Nick. The Fosters' Kalama Epstein and Liv and Maddie's Lauren Lindsey Donzis are also attached to the comedy, which has already started production on its initial 20 episodes.

No Good Nick is yet another Netflix series for Sean Astin, who in addition to his stand-out role in Stranger Things, is also the narrator for The Epic Tales of Captain Underpants. He's also voicing roles in Bunnicula and Justice League Action, having just last year wrapped his run as Raphael on Nickelodeon's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series. And this new series will be yet another multi-camera comedy getting play on the streaming service, following in the footsteps of Ashton Kutcher's long-running The Ranch and the rebooted One Day at a Time. The new comedy is teased to be another family-oriented sitcom similar that shares tonal beats with the super-successful Fuller House, but there will be a bit of serialized drama that will bring some weight as well.

No Good Nick seems like a good career move for Sean Astin, who proved on Stranger Things he's capable of filling the role of the TV dad, and we're assuming this show won't bring something so dramatic that Astin has to worry about his character making an untimely exit. Meanwhile, Melissa Joan Hart joins the Netflix family as the streaming giant is set to debut its dark comic book adaptation of the teen witch she first introduced to America. Sean Astin is somewhat going through the same thing, with Amazon preparing its mega-budget Lord of the Rings series, so perhaps the two will bond over the fact they've both remained relevant in Hollywood long enough to see their biggest former projects getting fresh starts for today's audiences.

No Good Nick is currently in production, and doesn't yet have a release window set up. But there are plenty of things popping up on Netflix for subscribers to enjoy while they wait for it.
