The Masked Singer has unmasked another one of its mystery contestants, and The Panda's identity is now out in the open. Now that she's been unmasked, Laila Ali can talk about her experience on the series as well as her general thoughts about one of Fox's hottest shows.
So what was Ali's biggest complaint regarding her time on the show? According to Ali, the clues were just too easy. The professional boxer and daughter of heavyweight boxing legend Muhammad Ali shared that she felt the producers made discovering her identity not much of a challenge at all.
I definitely thought they were too easy. I thought they were a giveaway. I don’t pick the clues, but when I heard them, I was like, ‘Are they trying to tell you who I am?’
For all Laila Ali's worries that the clues regarding her identity would be too obvious, The Masked Singer's judges weren't able to sniff her out ahead of the unmasking. Even the viewers were stumped for the most part, as choices like Brooke Hogan and one of the Bella sisters were suggested online. With that being said, clues for other competitors in Season 2 have been just as obvious as they were for competitors Season 1, and it does feel like the internet is once again unraveling much of the mystery surrounding these secret contestants.
So, who's to blame for these easy clues in The Masked Singer Season 2? Laila Ali told EW she didn't have a lot to do with what was teased about her identity, and pulled back the curtain a bit on how the singing competition comes up with the clues for each contestant, noting,
We don’t come up with the clues ourselves. We get interviewed about them and there are people who are obviously experts at doing this show who do the clues off of things we say. I don’t literally sit there and write the clues myself.
As far as how she felt about the rest of the competition, Laila Ali admitted she was a bit sad to have been eliminated so early in the competition. After all, with a professional boxing record of 24-0, it's safe to say losing is not something she's used to. Ali did say one good thing about her elimination was that she didn't have to spend a lot of time in the Panda suit, which made her hot and was heavy.
The Masked Singer airs on Fox on Wednesdays at 8:00 p.m. ET. As the fall TV season continues, be sure to stick with CinemaBlend for all the latest news regarding shows old and new, and for the latest on what's happening with movies as well.
