The Weird Stranger Things Season 4 Fan Theory Gaten Matarazzo Hopes Never Happens
Stranger Things Season 4 is on the way, and the story's future is about as ambiguous as it's ever been. The Russians are now in the picture, Hopper could be dead, and the Hawkins kids will be spread out when things pick back up. Dustin actor Gaten Matarazzo claims he doesn't know what's next for his character, though he has heard a theory that he'd rather not see happen.
The theory, as one would assume, is related to his goofy but great character. If this random internet idea is correct, than the Hawkins kids have a spy in their midst. That spy is not one of the Hawkins children, however, but managed to weasel her way into the group via Dustin's computer camp.
It's certainly a strange theory, but is it too strange for Stranger Things? Honestly, that's a stretch at this point, given the wild stuff we've seen in the Netflix original so far, though one could say a twist like that isn't quite on par with the creative decisions Stranger Things has made so far.
If Suzie was a Russian spy intended to spy on the activities of Dustin and the Hawkins kids, she's in a bad position to do so. She lives across the country, and as we saw throughout a bulk of Season 3, is not an easy person to get a hold of. In fact, had she answered Dustin's calls on the radio sooner, he may not have stumbled on the coded message they were sending from the Starcourt mall in the first place.
So, what will actually happen with Dustin and the gang in Season 4 of Stranger Things? Gaten Matarazzo told Variety he can't predict his character's arc, mostly because of how open Season 3 left things for the main characters. The Duffer Brothers ended Season 3 with a substantial amount of changes, and those changes could mean some big things for characters in Season 4. Probably nothing as out there as Suzie being a Russian agent, but it wouldn't be crazy to think something just as wild could go down. After all, we still have no idea whether or not Hopper is dead!
