It's been a wild year for rapper/producer Diddy, who was arrested in New York back in September. He was charged with a number of crimes, including sex trafficking and racketeering, with Diddy in danger of a ton of years in prison. We watched as he went to trial, eventually being acquitted of most of his serious charges. Now the sketch artist who illustrated the "Mo Money Mo Problems" revealed the feedback she got from him in the courtroom.
There have been countless headlines about the 55 year-old music legend over the past year, especially after feds raided his home and infamously a shocking 1,000 bottles of baby oil. Jane Rosenberg is an experienced sketch artist who has worked on high-profile cases before, and during a conversation with People about her career she revealed Diddy mouthed her some notes in court. He asked her to make him softer, and notes that she made him look like a "koala bear." The same day she spoke to Diddy's mother Janice Combs in an elevator, as she shared:
In the elevator, they were saying, 'Thank you for being such an unbiased artist.' And I told them, 'Today, Diddy said I made him look like a koala bear.’ And they all started chuckling.
Talk about a wholly unique work conversation. Most of us couldn't imagine talking to Diddy's mother in the midst of the trial, let alone sharing a laugh at his expense. But him offering notes to Rosenberg might not be all that surprising to fans, especially those of us who watched him with Danity Kane on Making The Band.
While Diddy got a huge legal victory when some of his charges were acquitted in court, he was still found guilty on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. It remains to be seen how he will be sentenced for these charges, but he's facing way less time in prison. After all, the other charges were the most serious of the bunch.
There's still plenty of discourse happening online about the case, and more specifically its verdict. There's debate about whether Diddy's fame influenced the legal process, especially given just how well-known he is. This is common for celebrity lawsuits, particularly when the general public is shocked by their verdicts.
While Diddy's mixed verdict was largely a victory for the music industry titan, his lawyers have maintained that "we are just getting started." Whether this is in reference to any personal lawsuits that have cropped or campaigning for a light sentencing remains to be seen. But I have to assume that more headlines and public interest in Diddy's legal issues will remain for the foreseeable future.
Diddy's sentencing isn't expected until October, so this legal issues are far from over. We'll just have to see how the verdict influences public opinion of the award-winning rapper/producer.
