Gretchen Carlson has a new TV gig! The former Fox News host started making headlines unrelated to broadcasts on the cable network back in 2016 when she filed a sexual harassment suit against then-Fox News boss Roger Ailes after her contract ended. Now, Carlson has lined up a new gig that will take her back to the small screen, but not her old Fox News stomping grounds. She's partnering with Blumhouse Television and returning to the interviewer's chair.

Yes, Gretchen Carlson and Blumhouse Television are working together on an interview series that will see Carlson interviewing special guests. The interviews will cover subject matter both topical and provocative. Fittingly, one of the topics will be the #MeToo movement and its evolution over the years.

Considering Gretchen Carlson was named one of Time Magazine's 100 Most Influential People in the World in 2017 after her lawsuit against Roger Ailes set off a firestorm of allegations against him from others, including Megyn Kelly, her voice on the #MeToo movement in the interview series will undoubtedly be interesting.

Blumhouse Television is the production company behind Showtime's The Loudest Voice miniseries, which depicted the rise and fall of Roger Ailes at Fox News. In that production, Gretchen Carlson was played by Naomi Watts. According to Blumhouse Television co-presidents Jeremy Gold and Marci Wiseman, The Loudest Voice impacted how they viewed Carlson. In a joint statement concerning the new interview series, Gold and Wiseman said this:

Gretchen is one of the most respected news anchors and a formidable advocate for women’s empowerment. Since developing The Loudest Voice our respect for her has only increased. We see a kindred spirit in Gretchen who is unafraid to shine a light where others may not dare to look and we’re happy that she has made Blumhouse a home.

Details about the series are scarce at this point, with no title, platform, release date, or even interview subjects named at the time of the announcement, but fans of Gretchen Carlson and those interested in an interview series tackling "difficult questions" can be excited nonetheless. For her part, Carlson stated that "helping to tell the stories of brave women and give a voice to the voiceless has become my passion," and partnering with Blumhouse will allow her to "continue to explore more untold stories and create a platform for necessary conversations."

The announcement of Gretchen Carlson's forthcoming series comes as the former Fox News host is in the news for a different reason: the 2019 film Bombshell. The film centers on the sexual harassment allegations made against Roger Ailes, with Carlson played by Nicole Kidman (with Charlize Theron as Megyn Kelly). Carlson herself doesn't appear in Bombshell, and she revealed on Twitter that NDAs prevented her and others from participating.

Bombshell: How Accurate Was The Movie About The Roger Ailes Controversy?

Although the Blumhouse Television partnership for a new interview series is undoubtedly her biggest project in recent years, Gretchen Carlson hasn't been absent from television since her 2016 departure from Fox News. She guest-hosted The Today Show mere months after Fox News dropped millions to settle her sexual harassment lawsuit, and she hosted three documentary specials for A&E in 2019.

Only time will tell when Gretchen Carlson's new series will debut. For now, you can look ahead to the shows that have already been scheduled on our 2020 midseason premiere guide and the 2020 Netflix lineup.
