Bindi Irwin Apparently Rushed Her Wedding To Avoid Coronavirus Restrictions

A family that’s no stranger to the dangers of nature, the Irwin family has made a living teaching the world about the animal kingdom, at its best and its worst, on their show Crikey! It’s The Irwins. But now, there’s a new reason the family is in the news, as daughter Bindi Irwin apparently rushed her wedding into action, in an effort to avoid new gathering restrictions in place due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

This news was first reported through some photos of the ceremony getting underway, as seen below, from the Australian news media:

As of today, there were new restrictions put into play in Australia that limit weddings to a specific set of guidelines. So, technically, the event that saw Irwin marry her fiancée, Chandler Powell, didn’t violate any of these guidelines. However, another report has surfaced that makes the wedding sound like less of a hazardous affair, and more of a pivot to respond to the concerns of the day.

Through a social media post on her Instagram, Bindi Irwin confirmed that there was apparently a very limited crowd that was a part of the ceremony. And what’s more, “no guests” were present at the event, which was held at the Australia Zoo, the very place where the Irwin family lives and works, as well as film their show Crikey! It’s The Irwins.

Whatever these new wedding restrictions may be, the Irwin/Powell wedding was an event that saw a lot of planning go into its execution, which was then shelved due to the coronavirus crisis. So the former Dancing With The Stars contestant and her family really can’t be blamed for wanting to go ahead with the wedding, especially considering how safe and restricted they were with things.

The surviving members of the family, made famous by the late Steve Irwin, best known as The Crocodile Hunter, have had their efforts in conservation and education well renowned all over the world. With his untimely passing due to an accident involving a stingray, if anyone would value the lesson of being careful with nature’s fury, it’d be those within the Irwin family.

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to progress, it’s nice to hear heartwarming stories about love and family making their way into the news. It’s also really pleasant to see the young woman who grew up sharing her father’s love of nature progressing further into adulthood, ready to share her life with the man that she loves.

Crikey! It’s The Irwins currently airs on Animal Planet; and we here at CinemaBlend send our warmest wishes to the newlyweds, as well as the rest of the Irwin and Powell families.
