Just one week after it poked fun at Arrow in its Star Trek and Friends-infused penultimate episode, Legends of Tomorrow will be throwing it back like never before for its Season 5 finale. A first look at Legends's upcoming finale shows off one of the superhero series' oddest cameos yet, with R&B artist and “Thong Song” singer Sisqó taking part in the action! Read on for everything you'll need to know.

Legends of Tomorrow is heading back in time 20 years, sort of. 20 years in viewers' pasts, at least. Yes, it was two decades ago – I cannot believe it either – that Sisqó’s “The Thong Song” debuted, eventually becoming one of the year's biggest hits, which remains recognizable to this day. Now, Legends of Tomorrow is honoring the hit and hitmaker alike in its finale. So, how does this meeting come about?

A look at Legends of Tomorrow’s first images from the finale reveals Sisqó is the subject of a history museum's exhibit, which is replete with sun, sand and, of course, bikini-clad women. Get ready for a blast from the past with the Arrowverse's homage to “The Thong Song” below, even if no obvious thongs are on display.

Yes, that is the one and only Sisqó. Unlike some of the other historical figures that will be portrayed in the episode, the real Sisqó is guest-starring in Legends of Tomorrow’s Season 5 finale. He might look like he's made of wax or something, but that's actually the entertainer himself. It's presumed the females are also of the breathing variety.

Another new pic from Legends of Tomorrow's finale shows a serious-looking Nate as Steel standing in front of the Sisqó exhibit, looking as if he's not at all interested in dancing to songs about bathing suit bottoms. Check it out:

Fans will have to say tuned to see if one of the heroes meets a harsh fate, considering finales are the place where that happens most in the Arrowverse.. While there is always a degree of uncertainty regarding the future of Legends of Tomorrow’s characters, viewers can at least take heart in knowing they will have some fun first. We can only hope that Montell Jordan also shows up for a rousing rendition of "This Is How We Do It."

Below is one of the new pics that showcases some of the more traditionally historical entities that the Legends team will come across in that museum.

Legends of Tomorrow will sign off for quite a while after its Season 5 finale, with Season 6 not arriving until some point in 2021. The finale's title, “Swan Thong,” is clearly a reference to Sisqó’s aforementioned hit song. Does this mean he will play heavily into the hour? One doesn't just hire Sisqó only to not use him exhaustively, right? The full synopsis for the episode is as follows, per The CW:

Still controlled by the Fates, the Legends find themselves in 1984-esque world, they soon discover that things aren’t as they thought they would be. The Legends must convince the civilians to trust them and stand up for their right to choose, but the Fates don’t make it easy by resurrecting the Encores once again.

So wait, if the Legends are dealing with something Orwellian in the Season 5 finale, then how will Sisqó enter into things? Maybe Big Brother enjoys sweaty beach tunes. For all the thong-related context that one could need ahead of the Legends of Tomorrow finale, you can check out the "Thong Song" video right here:

If you thought seeing the Legends of Tomorrow cast as Star Trek characters was awesome, the finale is about to raise the game. It looks like the costume department really brought their A-game. Not to mention that the show also recreated a scene from Sisqó’s music video.

In case you wondering, yes, that is Courtney Ford (who officially exited Season 5 earlier this season with husband Brandon Routh) reprising the role of Marie Antoinette in the finale. That'll be a nice hello again not too long after she first said goodbye. Something tells me Marie Antoinette would need a couple of dictionaries if she ever heard "Thong Song."

Find out if the hit song plays when the Season 5 finale of Legends of Tomorrow airs next Tuesday, June 2, at 9 p.m. ET on The CW. After it, you can anticipate this summer’s premieres. For now, you can stream past seasons of the series on Netflix along with lots of new 2020 content.
