It's only been one season since 9-1-1 dealt with the devastating aftermath of that tsunami, with an assist from Ronda Rousey, in its third season premiere, and the show is not letting up on the tension. As fans anticipate 9-1-1’s Season 4 return, the trailer has revealed a devastating new disaster that is set to hit the show. You can check it out for yourself down below:

Well, that was an intensely ominous viewing experience. When the Hollywood sign started to get impacted, my heart dropped, and I'm sure I 'm not alone in that. Fresh off of last season’s train crash comes yet another calamity, but this is what 9-1-1 is all about. So what horrifying act of mother nature in 9-1-1 letting loose? It's a mudslide, and it appears to wreak further havoc by crumbling a dam.

To be fair, 9-1-1’s latest disaster appears to be picking up quite a while after after the events of the previous season, based on this trailer. So the show did give its characters a slight break from the mayhem that comes with trying to save thousands of lives. Coincidentally, 9-1-1 will join fellow FOX show Last Man Standing in giving viewers a time jump.

Aside from learning of the gap in time, fans get a peek at many 9-1-1 characters, including Jennifer Love Hewitt’s Maddie. The 9-1-1 operator dons a mask, as she presumably asks if the dam is moving -- or at least, that's my take on it. Hopefully, Maddie and Chimney’s baby is not in any danger as this landslide unfolds, though a dose of drama has been teased for Season 4.

The FOX series ended its previous season with the bombshell announcement that Maddie and Chimney would be welcoming their first child together, and fans will have to wait just a bit longer to see that drama and more play out. FOX announced that 9-1-1 would have its Season 4 premiere early next year.

For Buck, there will be plenty of things to get into, as he tries to move on from Abby. Fans will recall that Connie Britton also made a trip back to 9-1-1 last season to reprise her role after leaving the series.

Aside from Buck’s romantic turmoil, one has to wonder if the latest disaster to hit the drama will lead to any further capsule episodes for Angela Bassett’s Athena. Season 3 put a profound spotlight on Athena’s backstory, so viewers will have to watch and see if more of her past is brought to light. For now, she'll have her hands full with this new challenge. A tsunami, a (literal) train wreck, an earthquake, and now a mudslide have all befallen the cast of 9-1-1 during the show's run, and you can only imagine what's still to come. Season 4 of 9-1-1 premieres on January 18, 2021, in 2021’s winter/spring schedule on FOX.
