I'm not afraid to let my emotions run wild when it comes to Ted Lasso, and the latest trailer for Season 4 hit me right in the heart. The show, which finally hits the 2026 TV schedule on August 5th, is so great at just making me feel good, and I make no apologies for that. That said, Season 4 has been a bit of a black box, given all the changes to the show with Ted (Jason Sudeikis) becoming the coach of the Richmond AFC women's team and lots of new cast members joining (and a few cast regulars on the bench for now).
I'll also admit that the end of Season 3 did leave me a little disappointed that Keeley and Roy didn't end up together. Judging by the trailer, I may finally get my wish.
Roy And Keeley Felt So Natural To Me
One of the criticisms of Ted Lasso is that it is uncomplicated, and I don't think that's fair. Not every show has to be Breaking Bad with complicated characters dealing with complicated problems. I love that Ted Lasso, which you can watch with an Apple TV subscription, is uncomplicated most of the time. It's a show I know I can watch, and I'm not going to end up in a dark hole of despair when I'm done. There's plenty of that on TV these days.
One exception to that over the seasons has been Keeley's relationships. First, Keeley (Juno Temple) was dating Jamie (Phil Dunster) in a pretty toxic relationship, but in Seasons 2 and 3, she settled into a wonderful relationship with Roy (Brett Goldstein), and this is the relationship I ship for, as the kids say. I loved their life together, and I loved seeing the softer side of Roy in those moments. Keeley's choice at the end of Season 3 to kick both Jamie and Roy to the curb left me really bummed out.

That's why, when this new trailer for Ted Lasso Season 4 dropped this morning, I couldn't have been more elated. While the first trailer gave a pretty broad overview of all the changes at AFC Richmond with a new team and new players (meaning lots of new cast members), this new one clearly (to me) shows where Roy and Keeley are hopefully headed. It's right where I want them to be.
It's always felt unnatural to me that Keeley would be stuck between choosing Roy and Jamie. Sure, Jamie grew up a lot over the years, but Keeley and Roy were just so perfect together most of the time. The end of Season 3 and Keeley's decision never felt right to me. Now, in the trailer, it's clear that the two are back on good terms, and it seems they're rekindling what they had before the silly competition between Roy and Jamie for Keeley's affection.
So here's to AFC Richmond's team, and here's to Roy and Keeley hopefully finding the love and romance they lost again!
