It's The Nail In The Coffin For Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist, But Fans Are Still Very Upset

NBC cancelled Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist last month, but fans and the cast kept fighting to save the series, even after Peacock passed on it. However, recently cast options expired, meaning that the actors are free to move on to other projects if they’d like, and fans are not very happy.

Fans are still taking to Twitter, adamant to save the musical dramedy. Lionsgate, the studio behind the NBC series, was still looking for a new home for Zoey’s, and there were enough encouraging signs to keep fans’ hope alive up to this point, even after three weeks since the cancellation.

Many fans are staying aboard the #SaveZoeysPlaylist train. Despite cast options expiring, Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist fans aren’t backing down without a fight as one user pointed out what the show is really about, and it’s not just the music:

The Season 2 finale of Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist seemingly ended on a cliffhanger. After struggling with her feelings for both Max and Simon, Zoey finally chose Max and Max chose her, with “I Melt With You” as the heart song. It was beautiful and emotional and made fans want more of them after waiting for what seems like forever. Now that Zoey’s is cancelled, we may never see what could have been for them, and for that, fans have every right to be upset:

Although there are musical shows on TV, there aren’t any like Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist. The music, the emotions, and the romance mixed in with the storylines made the show incredible. The series premiered just before lockdown last year, which may be why it won a devoted fanbase. The sentiment in Season 2 didn’t change, and it was even more heartfelt and emotional, while also tackling real world issues. It’s a shame that a show like Zoey’s got cancelled, especially since many characters have open-ended stories, as one fan pointed out, once again using Zoey and Max as an example:

It’s been three weeks since NBC officially cancelled the musical dramedy and since then, fans have been strong. Campaigns, watch parties, and always tweeting, they are not going down yet. A show like Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist, with a talented cast and passionate fanbase, deserved to be picked up. In the wake of the cancellation and cast options expiring, one fan mentions all of the emotions the series brings:

Much like the Manifest fandom, who are still going strong with their campaign, the Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist fandom may not be ready to give up, even though the cast options expiring might be the nail in the coffin. With streaming, there was still a chance with decent odds, but since Peacock was the only viable option and that platform passed, it might not be possible. But until the fight is over, don’t count Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist out yet. Both seasons are streaming on Peacock.
