All American Star Had The Best Reaction To Series Hitting #1 On Netflix 'Again'

Daniel Ezra as Spencer James and Samantha Logan as Olivia baker in All American.

Season 3 of The CW’s football hit All American recently arrived on Netflix and quickly shot to the top of the charts amid new originals. This isn’t the first time the drama was #1 on the streamer and star Samantha Logan is making sure to thank the fans responsible in the best way.

Samantha Logan, who plays Olivia Baker on the CW series, took to Instagram to share the news that All American was #1 on Netflix again. She had taken a tour of the Los Angeles Rams stadium and threw a football at a target on the field, indicating that maybe if activism doesn’t work out for Olivia, perhaps she has a future in football?

All American gained attention over the three seasons that have aired so far. And it’s not hard to see why, as Netflix has even described it as a mix between The O.C. and Friday Night Lights. The drama centers on Daniel Ezra as Spencer James, a football star from South Crenshaw High in LA as he transfers to Beverly High and tries to fit in. Like most shows on The CW, the series doesn’t have a huge audience that watches live, but has found success on streaming. When it dropped on Netflix last year, it went up the ranks as #1.

The series is inspired by the life of retired NFL linebacker Spencer Paysinger and stars Taye Diggs. Even though the story is captivating, not everyone thought that when the show first premiered. During the 2018-19 TV season, All American was one of the least-viewed scripted TV shows. However Netflix has given the series a breath of fresh air, as the streamer has done for many shows that didn’t do too well on their original networks.

The fourth season of All American is set to premiere in October on The CW, but if history is any indication, many people will likely wait until the next season is available on streaming and in full before they watch it. The CW isn’t known for having the best ratings, but the shows often accumulate cult followings. Currently, All American is down to #2 on Netflix as the second season of Netflix Original Outer Banks has taken the top spot, but it is above all the competition when it comes to non-Netflix originals, it doesn’t look like it’s going to be off the Top 10 any time soon.

An All American: Homecoming spinoff is on the way, which was first announced last December. The series will follow Geffri Maya’s Simone Hicks at a historically all-black university. A backdoor pilot for the series was part of All American’s third season and followed Spencer, Jordan, Olivia and Simone visiting an Atlanta HBCU. The episode gave fans an idea of what the spinoff could look like and how it would be set up. Before the backdoor pilot even aired last month though, The CW picked it up to series in May, but Homecoming will not debut until midseason 2022. Will All American’s reign on Netflix continue? Stream it now!
