Is Arrow Ready To Surrender? Check Out City Of Blood Trailer, Photos And Description

Spoilers if you haven't seen last night's Arrow ("Seeing Red")!

The trailer for "City of Blood" begins with a funeral, and after last night's episode, we don't have to guess who's in the casket. But there's a lot more going on in this 30-second spot that isn't so clear. Like, who's Oliver saying "I'm the Arrow" to? The obvious guess would be Thea because she's the one talking about honesty, but if I were to throw a wild guess out there, I would either say Laurel or he's talking to himself.

Laurel already knows, since Slade told her, so if Oliver revealed this news to her, it wouldn't be much of a game changer, except that she can acknowledge that she knows. But at this point, most of the main characters know who Oliver is, right? Thea'd really be the last to know and with the end of the second season approaching, it's entirely possible the writers are ready to lose the secret identity thing.

Let's move on to some of the other things we saw in the trailer. We're assuming that's Moira's funeral at the start, and the occasion may include Felicity's tears...

felicity

But if she's sad, I'm guessing it's more to do with Oliver and/or Thea's grief and not necessarily her own grief for Moira. It's not like they were close.

It looks like the election is over now that Sebastian Blood doesn't have any competition. Was that him swearing in in the trailer?

Blood

After that, we see him looking at his mask. Is he contemplating retiring it, now that he has what he wants? Or just trying to figure out what to do next? Because based on this episode photo, the situation looks a bit different from this angle:

Speaking of Blood, Arrow's episode description indicates that Laurel's resuming her crusade against him...

OLIVER CONSIDERS HIS OPTIONS AGAINST SLADE — After Slade (Manu Bennett) threatens to take everything Oliver (Stephen Amell) loves away, Oliver decides the fastest way to stop further bloodshed is to surrender to his enemy. Knowing that surrender will surely lead to Oliver’s death, Diggle (David Ramsey) and Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) go to extreme measures to keep Oliver from confronting Slade. Meanwhile, Thea (Willa Holland) considers leaving town, and Laurel (Katie Cassidy) resumes her crusade against Sebastian Blood (guest star Kevin Alejandro). Finally, Slade unleashes his assault on Starling City. Michael Schultz directed the episode written by Holly Harold (#221).

Based on these episode stills from Arrow's "City of Blood," it looks like Laurel will be getting into the mess...

But that may not be such a bad thing for Oliver...

Laurel and Oliver

Is this before or after Oliver decides that the fastest way to stop further bloodshed is to surrender to his enemy? And what is it that Diggle and Felicity to have planned?

What does A.R.G.U.S. have to do with it? Because we got a glimpse of this from the trailer...

And then there's this girl...

Are we supposed to know who she is? Admittedly, my comic knowledge is limited to what this series teaches me as we go along. Any guesses about who she is? Good guy or bad guy? Outside of comic-related guesses, I'm wondering if it's possible that she's the mother of Oliver's baby. The series dropped that bombshell on us last night, which may have been one last piece of business for Moira to reveal to us before she made her exit. But maybe there's more to this woman than just an unplanned pregnancy?

Also left to ponder are Sara's plans and Roy's situation. Both were left hanging last night, and I don't see either of them in the preview for "City of Blood," so we'll have to wait and see what's coming...

Arrow airs Wednesday at 8:00 p.m. ET on CW!
