Lady Sif's New Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. Guest Stint Will Tie In With Marvel Universe

We’ve know for a while that Lady Sif would be visiting Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. for a second time. Last week, ABC released a preview taking a look at this week’s big episode, and this week Jaimie Alexander, who plays Lady Sif in several Marvel projects, revealed a few details about her upcoming stint on the series, including the fact that her appearance will tie in with other things in the Marvel Universe.

She’s found without her armor, so that’s definitely a first for us to show her in that fish-out-of-water way, kind of like Thor was in Thor. It’s a huge mystery and it all ties in together as it does in the Marvel Universe.

Sif losing her armor seems like a weird prospect, but it actually makes sense considering the plot of Tuesday’s episode, "Who You Really Are." Sif is expected to be chasing a foe with superpowers. In the ensuing fight, she will end up losing most of her memories. The S.H.I.E.L.D. team will find her, and per the EW article, she will be found without her armor. Since Lady Sif won’t remember Earth, it makes sense that the show would employ some of the comical fish-out-of-water comedy that made Thor so great.

But how will Sif’s appearance tie-in with the overall Marvel Universe? It may have to do with the person she is tracking when she loses her memory. In fact, she refused to name her opponent in another interview with TV Line. Here’s what we know:

She’s on an undercover mission, she tracks down [her target] and they get into a pretty brutal fight. She ends up having severe memory loss when all is said and done. He’s quite a fighter, to have done that to her.

The rest of the episode will feature Agent Coulson and the rest of the team tracking down Sif’s foe while the Asgardian warrior attempts to recover her memories, and figure out why she was chasing the mysterious figure in the first place. Regardless of what happens and how the storyline ends up nodding at Sif’s life on Asgard, one of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s biggest pros is that it connects with the rest of the Marvel Universe while still maintaining TV storylines that stand on their own. The show just recently returned from winter hiatus, and it’s nice that we are getting both Inhumans storylines, as well as the return of an important Thor universe character.

Lady Sif’s second guest appearance will be part of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s March 9 episode. You can tune in and catch new episodes of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. on Tuesday nights at 9 p.m. ET. In the meantime, catch the preview for the big episode, below.
