Netflix's House Of Cards Premiere Date Set For February

Arrested Development isn't the only series on deck for Netflix. The streaming video service also has a couple of original programs set to make their debut, among which is House of Cards. We knew the drama, which stars Kevin Spacey, would be arriving at some point early next year, and now Netflix has set the official premiere date for it.

From Media Rights Capital, directed by David Fincher and written by Beau Willimon, House of Cards stars Kevin Spacey, Robin Wright and Kate Mara and follows Francis Underwood (Spacey), a masterful politician who's described as "beguiling, charismatic and ruthless." Wright plays Claire, Underwood's wife who is determined to see her husband get to the top. David Fincher (The Social Network) directed the first two episodes, which were written by Willimon (The Ides of March). In addition to Spacey, Wright and Mara, the cast also includes Corey Stoll, Kristen Connolly, Michael Kelly and Sakina Jaffrey.

Netflix announced today that they will release the entire first season of the series on February 1, 2013. All thirteen episodes of Season 1 will be released at that time, so those of us who love to marathon our way through series will have the opportunity to do just that with the first season, while those who want to space out the episodes can do so if they choose. This isn't the first original series to debut on Netflix, but it's definitely one of the more anticipated ones, given the talent both behind and in front of the camera. It will be very interesting to see how the drama is received and whether the full-season-premiere format works out.

House of Cards' second season is set to begin production in Spring 2013.
