Scandal Season 2, Episode 8 Clips: Flag Pins And Flashbacks

In case you forgot, last Thursday night's episode of Scandal ended with a major (major!!!) cliffhanger. It's at this point that you want to stop reading if you haven't yet gotten caught up through "Defiance." Ok, moving into semi-spoiler territory. Fitz was shot at the end of last week's episode. What's going to happen next? The clips we have to show you don't deal with Fitz's condition or the shooter, but they are pretty intense... for other reasons.
It looks like the assassination attempt on the President is causing Olivia to indulge in a few flashbacks of her relationship with Fitz. In this first clip, we see Olivia flashing back to one steamy moment with Fitzgerald. The scene looks like it fits with these photos, which show Olivia fixing Fitz's tie and then Mellie fixing it later. I'm guessing those are some "after" moments. After what? Watch this clip...
Nothing like a flag pin to launch a sex flashback. There may be some part of me that likes to think this happens all the time in our nation's capital. Though it's probably more likely to occur at the capital of ShondaLand. And speaking of Shonda Rhimes, I can't help but be reminded of some of Meredith's outbursts in Grey's Anatomy when watching Olivia vent at Fitz in this next flashback.
Oh, it's totally soapy. Completely sudsville, as these two actually fight over how much they love each other in the rose garden. And yet, I'm swept away by the passion and drama of it all. We'll have to wait and see if he pulls through these gunshot wounds. And then it'll be a matter of who tried to kill him and why.
Scandal's "Happy Birthday, Mr. President" airs Thursday at 10:00 p.m. ET on ABC.
