She'll Be Back; Sarah Connor That Is

According to Variety Warner Brothers TV has cleared the way for a pilot of “The Sarah Connor Chronicles” and Fox Broadcasting has given the greenlight for work to begin. Known for his TV accomplishments, twelve previously successful pilots picked up to series, director David Nutter is slated for the job in the labeled chair. Not only will he be director but also an executive producer for the project. The script for “Connor” is coming from Josh Friedman of War Of the Worlds fame. Also, C2 Pictures, which produced the third Terminator movie, is producing with Warner Brother’s TV.

Casting for the pilot will begin right away and filming is set for early 2007 in New Mexico. What will be missing from the Terminator-like show is Linda Hamilton and Arnold Schwarzenegger. Arnold is fairly busy, what with the job of running an entire gigantic state and all, and Hamilton has dropped off the face of the earth. The project will follow what happened after the end of T2 when Sarah and her unborn son went on a joy ride with a dog.

Referring to the script, Nutter said, “it really expanded the characters and did what any good movie-to-TV script should do, which is send them in directions you wouldn't expect.” Nutter also says he wants to do as much as he can on a TV budget, “this is a huge project that's going to take an extensive amount of preparation and pre-production.” Because of the amount of effort “Connor” will take Nutter will not be directing any other pilots this season. Nutter realizes the vastness of the project considering “[Sarah Connor] has the weight of the world on her shoulders, and she also has to raise a 14-year-old son who may be the salvation of the world.” A woman’s work is never done.
