Every gamer that has been eagerly awaiting Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain for the past few years will soon be able to get their hands on the title come September 1st. Before the launch of the game Konami and Hideo Kojima have one more trailer left to entice gamers with.
Gamespot believes this final trailer, dubbed “Evolution & Harmony”, will be the game's official launch trailer and that once it goes live gamers will be primed and ready for Hideo's final Metal Gear game for Konami. The trailer is said to go live on Tuesday, August 25th, tomorrow at 6AM PST, 9AM EST, 2 PM UK and 11PM in Japan. This was revealed in a tweet by Kojima who posted the following on Twitter.
It's rare that a launch trailer is treated with this level of attention or anticipation. But there's a lot surrounding the release of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain that has fans very emotional, distraught, excited, frustrated and eager to play the game, support Hideo Kojima and wish him well following his departure from Konami.
Over the past year things have been slowly breaking down between Konami and Kojima, so much so that Konami pulled the plug on the game that director Guillermo Del Toro and Kojima were working on together that would have starred Walking Dead star Norman Reedus.
Instead the whole Silent Hills project was buried. Konami even went as far as to remove the Silent Hills called P.T. Demo from the PlayStation Store. And worse yet is that if you delete it from your hard drive there's no way to get it back. Some users attempted to sell their PS4 units on eBay with the demo already installed but eBay quickly put an end to that.
Things continued to escalate between Konami and Kojima when a detailed report about the company's employment practices was made public and it didn't sound like the greatest of places to work. It was also revealed that Konami's executives were not fond of Kojima for having spent $80 million to develop Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Technically, given how much content is contained within in the game and how much publicity it's received, I would say $80 million is a great budget to have, especially considering that most AAA titles are $100 million plus.
Also, it's likely Metal Gear Solid V will easily make back its the first week out on the market. The game is probably one of the most hyped games coming out of Japan in recent years... heck it's probably one of the most hyped games coming out for consoles and PC that isn't a Ubisoft title mired in controversies about downgrades and resolution discrepancies. Even more than that is the fact that Metal Gear Solid V actually received some slight visual upgrades, which is a rarity in this generation of home console gaming.
