DayZ's Dumb Ways To Die Revealed By Music Video

So many different dumb ways to die in DayZ. The question is: how many ways have you died in DayZ? If you haven't played the game the following music video will be very enlightening. If you have played the game then it's basically just a visual history lesson for you.

Why is there a group of eggs, a penises, pills and a dingleberry singing and dancing? Heck if I know. But it seems to tap into a mellow, folksy theme that works well enough to be entertaining for the three minute running time.

The video chronicles all the different dumb ways players can bite the dust in Bohemia Interactive's post-apocalyptic, zombie-survival simulator. And believe you me, there are tons of ways to buy the farm in DayZ.

The game prides itself on the difficulty and challenge of staying alive. It may sound simple but the reality is that staying a live is a difficult thing to do in DayZ. As pointed out in the video, you can die of infection, die getting kidnapped and murdered by bandits, killed trying to give someone blood or infected because you did something as simple as fail to look behind you when a zombie was right there on your arse ready to take a big bite of your meaty butt.

I do love the one mention of getting glitched through the wall and having no way out but to commit suicide. It really is one of the dumbest ways to die.

I'm not really familiar with the YouTuber to put the video together, but Samueljfw, real name Sam Waterfall, seems to have a knack for this sort of thing. The YouTube comments are all mostly positive, praising Sam and Joelle for the animation and the vocals that came along with it.

One of the things that I find most intriguing is that DayZ started as a mod, evolved into a full fledged standalone game (or at least, it's getting there) and has spawned a profitable subculture in the meantime.

I mean, think about all the live-streamers, video producers, commentators and Let's Play enthusiasts who popped up to play DayZ and are now making a kind buck or two on it. Heck, If Sam keeps making videos there's a measure of profitability involved. Some of his previous videos have skyrocketed past the 400,000 viewer mark. It's not unlikely to think that this newest “Dumb Ways to Die” melody could also go viral, too.

It's an interesting thing... seeing a mod help build profitable ventures for developers and gamers alike. I suppose it's one of the reasons why gaming is so inclusive, creative and widely entertaining – just about any and everyone can get into the community and contribute what they want and it just might go viral or make them a few fans along the way.

As for DayZ? Well, the game has an interesting roadmap of features laid out for it in 2015 as it heads toward its full release in 2016.
