Frozen Synapse: Prime, Jungle Rumble Invade The Vita Soon

A pair of new games are headed to the PlayStation Vita, both coming from completely different ends of the genre pool. There's the musical rhythm game, Jungle Rumble, and the spruced up version of beloved PC strategy game, Frozen Synapse Prime.

We all knew that Frozen Synapse would be heading to the Vita, but I doubt anyone expected the game to feature such a shocking leap in terms of graphics. The minimalistic, neon look of the PC game has been ditched in favor of a new sci-fi, more realistic aesthetic.

Due out sometime this year, the team at Double Eleven have decided to put together a helpful list of combat basics over on the PlayStation Blog in order to get everyone ready for its unique brand of gameplay. For those new to the series, Frozen Synapse Prime offers turn-based, strategic combat, but both players will be taking their turn and plotting their strategies at the exact same time.

Frozen Synampse Prime is one of those games that looks super basic at first but, once you dive in, you'll find a ridiculous amount of dept, especially when taking on a human opponent. Like a good game of chess, you're always trying to think at least one step ahead of your opponent, guessing how they'll behave in order to get the drop on them. Ignore the present completely, though, and you'll likely be the one getting overwhelmed.

While Prime is merely receiving some new details this week in the lead up to launch, Jungle Rumble is a brand new announcement for the Vita, mixing thumping tunes with carefully timed screen taps. Did I mention there will be monkeys? Because there will be. Lots and lots of monkeys.

Based on the game's description alone, Jungle Rumble sounds a little bit like Patapon. Since we haven't seen anything new out of that particular gem of a series, I'm personally game for anything even remotely in the same neighborhood.

“The player drums to control a tribe of monkeys,” explains Disco Pixel's Trevor Stricker in the announcement. “The rival tribe invades to steal bananas. The player sends monkey minions into the fray by drumming on the screen.”

Soooooo what you're telling me is that I get to control an army of adorable monkeys with the power of my amazing drum skills? Yes, please, and thank you.
