Another German Bastard![]()
Not all Germans are Nazis. Some of them are Bastards. Quentin Tarantino has just hired one such German, a guy named Til Schweiger is the latest addition to the cast of QT’s Inglorious Bastards.
Til is playing one of the men recruited by Lt. Aldo Raine, a German member of the movie’s titular Nazi hunting team, the Inglorious Bastards. With the addition of Schweiger, the Inglorious Bastards cast is very nearly filled. Brad Pitt, Diane Kruger, Eli Roth, Christop Weitz, Daniel Bruhl, Mike Myers, and a whole host of others are already locked in to the production. For those of you who haven’t read the script that’s been floating around, Inglorious Bastards is the story of a group of Nazi hunters dropped into German and charged with taking Third Reich scalps. Unfortunately, Tarantino has managed to take that fairly exciting, Dirty Dozen-like premise and make it as boring as possible, by cross-cutting it with the story of a French Jew running a movie theater in the middle of Nazi-occupied Paris. It’s kind of like The Majestic, but with Hitler instead of Jim Carrey. Actually, the way Jim’s career has been going lately that may be precisely the same thing. |
