The Avengers 2 Trailer Looks Hilarious And Creative In LEGO Form

If the Avengers weren’t already fun to watch in live-action, just wait until you see them in brick form in this new, elaborate LEGO recreation of the first The Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer.

It’s been over two months since Marvel released the first trailer for The Avengers: Age of Ultron, and until they releases another preview for the ensemble film, this, along with the extra scenes added in the extended versions, is the only footage we have to study. Fortunately, if your repeat viewings are getting boring, this LEGO trailer will spice things up. Using the audio from the original preview, YouTube user JimA73 has recreated the 2:16 preview using the popular toy bricks as his creative medium. Everything from the party scenes to the battle between Hulk and the Hulkbuster armor has been "rebuilt," so to speak. It’s not just the characters who are in LEGO form, but all the environments as well. The creator even switched out the green background in the ‘Approved for Appropriate Audiences’ disclaimer for green LEGO flooring. That’s dedication!

Unlike most LEGO trailers, this video goes beyond stop-motion and includes more elaborate animations such as the characters’ mouths moving and the Hulkbuster shifting into battle mode. Given how elaborate this is, it’s understandable that this didn’t come out until last week given how time consuming this probably was to make. This recreation is both amazingly put together and also extremely funny, mostly because of the facial expressions (see Scarlet Witch’s scream at 1:19) and the slower movements of the characters. One unintentionally hilarious moment (for me, at least) is at the 1:46 mark when Captain America jumps up to avoid the car hurdling towards him. In this version, it almost looks as if the car succeeded in hitting him. If that happened in the movie, there would probably be riots in theaters everywhere.

However, it’s our titular villain that’s the best part of the trailer.Much like the Sweded version of Ultron, the LEGO android is almost creepier than the real deal. The first version that barges in on the Avengers' party looks like he’s been through the ringer (did they draw on him with a Sharpie?), and the evolved form that appears at the end has a mouth raised in a sinister smile that makes it look like he was he’s been morphed with The Joker. Combined with James Spader’s intimidating voice, you might want to be careful when purchasing one of the upcoming Age of Ultron LEGO sets. If that Ultron figure comes to life, we’re all screwed!

Here's the original trailer, one more time:

You can catch The Avengers: Age of Ultron (in live-action, not LEGO form) when it hits theaters on May 1, 2015.
