Hero Blend #50: Meeting Marvel's Daredevil

This year is set to be an incredibly important one for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, particularly in terms of introducing new superheroes to the ever-growing continuity. We have Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) joining the party in Joss Whedon’s The Avengers: Age of Ultron, and Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) will be getting his very own feature in July. But that’s not all. We will also be seeing new additions through Marvel’s deal with Netflix, as Daredevil starring Charlie Cox, will be streaming online this April. Obviously there’s still a good amount of time to wait for the show to air, but this week we finally got our first look at some footage featuring the street-level hero.

It was yesterday morning that the first Daredevil trailer dropped online, and it honestly took us by surprise. This is clearly a much darker, grittier side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and the trailer has some serious dramatic impact to go with showrunner Steven S. DeKnight’s interesting visual approach to the titular character's powers. But why just tell you about it when you can just watch it for yourself?

Joining me to talk about the Daredevil trailer on this week’s episode of Hero Blend is the always-wonderful Roth Cornet from IGN. We had a great chat about not only the footage, but also the impact that the show will have on both the MCU and the world of superhero shows at large, so don’t delay hitting the play button!
