The Poltergeist Reboot Adds Jared Harris, Nicholas Braun And More

Now that the upcoming Poltergeist reboot has set its two lead actors, both Sam Rockwell and Rosemarie DeWitt set to play the film's central roles, the team behind the production has begun filling out the supporting cast. And that evidently begins with signing Jared Harris, Kyle Calett and Nicholas Braun to the cast.

Deadline is reporting the Harris news and says that the British star will be playing a character named Carrigan, a "larger than life TV personality who left the world of academia behind to become the star host of basic cable TV show Haunted House Cleaners" (which sounds vaguely similar to the part David Tennant played in 2011's Fright Night remake). Variety first reported Calett's casting says that the young actor will be playing one of Rockwell and DeWitt's character's children. Lastly, The Wrap adds that Braun will be playing a grad student who is assigned to document the attempt to remove the titular poltergeist.

Based on a script by David Lindsay-Abaire, who previously wrote the drama Rabbit Hole and Oz The Great and Powerful, the new film follows the Bowen family a they begin to experience terrifying paranormal events that are being caused by supernatural forces. Gil Kenan, who made his debut with the 2006 animated movie Monster House and last directed 2008's City of Ember, is helming the project. Production is scheduled to start this fall and while a 2014 release date is expected, 20th Century Fox has yet to announce a release date.

Harris made headlines just yesterday when it was announced that he would be reuniting with Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows director Guy Ritchie for the upcoming Man From U.N.C.L.E. movie. The British actor has been keeping very busy as of late, taking on more big screen roles. Last year he played Ulysses S. Grant in Steven Spielberg's Lincoln and was most recently featured in the young adult fiction film The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones. He recently completed production on Paul W.S. Anderson's action thriller Pompeii and will soon be heard lending his voice to Laika's The Boxtrolls.

Catlett, meanwhile is best known for his role as Joey Matthews on the crime thriller television series The Following. He's also completed work on the Jean-Pierre Jeunet film The Young and Prodigious T.S. Spivet, in which he plays the title character. You can watch the trailer for the film below.

Like his fellow new co-stars Braun has been getting bigger and better parts as of late, and is currently in production on the horror/sci-fi film The Kitchen Sink. He is also plays a lead role in director Dylan Kidd's comedy Get A Job, which has been completed but has not yet found a release date.

The Poltergeist reboot has managed to put together a fairly impressive cast, but is that enough to make you interested in seeing the film? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
