When The Next Logan Trailer Might Arrive

Logan Wolverine X-23

It's hard to believe that 2016 is almost on its way out, with 2017 starting to come into clearer view with each passing day. And you can bet that one of the most anticipated films of the coming year's line-up is, undoubtedly, James Mangold's Logan, the concluding chapter in Hugh Jackman's tenure as X-Men badass Wolverine. So far, we've already been given a good look at the film's tone and scope in one showy, but sparse, trailer, and folks are undoubtedly wondering when their next round of action will be coming. If what we're hearing is true, that day may be coming soon; on January 16, to be specific.

The Twitter feed of a site named Trailer Track has a line on some information, apparently obtained from Fox Showcase events. While there's no official confirmation of this date being the day we'll see Jackman's larger than life character being previwed once more, this does line up when you take several factors into account. First, the film's release date of March 3rd would put a second trailer for the film right on track in a January release slot. Come to think of it, it's a bit late by film marketing standards. However, Logan is one of those movies that could probably be released without a trailer, and people would still come running.

As far as film options are concerned, there are a couple of films that could use a well-earned boost from Logan's high profile. With January 16 falling on a Monday, it's quite possible we could see the trailer debuting in theaters first, as the 13 brings Sleepless and even The Bye-Bye Man into theaters. Using the lure of a trailer, those two films could find themselves in a pretty powerful position, though it does seem a bit unlikely that either of those films would be the ones to carry the banner for Wolverine's last ride. So if the 16 isn't a foreign release date, it could be assumed that the Logan trailer will be debuting online, waiting for that weekend's films before it arrives in theaters.

January 20 affords the opportunity for the Logan trailer to attach itself to either M. Night Shyamalan's Split, which stars fellow X-Men star James McAvoy, as well as xXx: The Return of Xander Cage, which would tap into the harder edged demographic attracted to the film's R-rated content. Both are good contenders for the honor, as they are the closest the market has to blockbusters in the release window being speculated. Either way, January could use a boost of excitement, and a Logan trailer could do the trick, should the rumors become the truth. For now, check out the one that's already been released.

Logan claws its way into theaters on March 3 on traditional and IMAX screens.
