Good news for fans of the CW’s new superhero series Arrow. The show's star, Stephen Amell, has sent out word via Twitter that the network has ordered the back nine episodes, giving Arrow a full season order. It’s not a surprise, really, considering the buzz surrounding the show and the strong ratings for the first two episodes.

Arrow, which made our staff’s list of top picks among the new fall offerings, debuted on October 10th and held on to most of its audience for episode two. This is a big feat, considering some of the other network's Wednesday night shows did not fare so well. Stephen Amell, who plays the title role (although outside of the new program the character is better known as Green Arrow) tweeted the news today that the CW has picked up the series for the rest of its first season, although there's no official announcement just yet.
"Best way to start a Monday? Getting picked up for your back nine episodes. Thwick. #Arrow "

Based on the DC comic book character, Arrow tells the tale of a millionaire playboy type who returns after being stranded on a desert island to find he can no longer live the life he used to occupy. Instead, he becomes a vigilante superhero with a gift for archery who takes on the bad guys lurking in Starling City. It’s not the CW’s first foray into super hero territory. Smallville was a hit for the network that actually featured the Green Arrow, albeit played by a different actor. Arrow was a good bet from the start and so far, it seems to be living up to its potential.

Arrow airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET on the CW.
