The Beatles Get Help

Alright, who gave Ringo a sacrificial ring?

If you have no idea what I’m talking about, you’re probably not alone. While Help! is a huge part of Beatles lore, it isn’t exactly common viewing these days, especially since DVD releases of the movie have been few, far between, and barely worth it. Apple Corps Ltd has announced a restored version of the film with a new 5.1 soundtrack coming to DVD on October 30th.

The movie, directed by Richard Lester, centers around Ringo accidentally getting a sacrificial ring that he can’t take off. Suddenly John, Paul, George, and Ringo find themselves under pursuit again, this time by cult members, police, and even a mad scientist, while their adventure takes them from London to the Alps and Bahamas. The picture features seven classic Beatles hits, including the title song, “You’re Going To Lose That Girl,” “Ticket To Ride,” “I Need You,” “The Night Before,” and “Another Girl.”

The remastered movie is just disc one of an announced two-disc set. The second disc will include over an hour of bonus material, including featurettes on the remastering process, a retrospective by the cast and crew, a missing scene, and a documentary about the making of the movie.

To add on top of that, there is not only the two-disc edition, but also a deluxe box set that will include a reproduction of the script, lobby cards, a poster, and a 60-page book with little-seen pictures and notes from the movie.
